Paris

Perhaps one of the most beautiful places I know is Paris and I try to visit it as often as I can. I love the food, the buildings and its "feel". For such a major city it seems to have a laid back approach to itself. Shops open when they want, and people seems to be on "afternoon shift", Life revolves around food, wine and shops.

I like this. This trip was about living as Parisians do, visiting my doctors and exploring new and interesting places, as well as catching up on friends.

Now I have a confession:- I love the film Ratatouille! AND I was surprised to find a window exactly as it is in this film. You see its a window of a rat catcher!! Amazing!!

BUT, not only did I find the exact window which exists, but I also found a guy sitting alone in a Brasserie, that looks EXACTLY like the food critic in the film!

On a serious note there are some really attractive buildings and places in Paris too.

Sadly this trip was far too short. I hope that I will be back sooner rather than later!

  1. Simon, I have the exact identical photo of that shop/rat window that I took when I lived in Paris in the beginning of the 90's-so nice to see that it is still there! Thanks!
I hope everything went well in France. Did you pass Italy?

  2. I hope to be back sooner as well.... but it might be later as I am quite broke! But I am already thinking about another Camino walk... perhaps starting more near Somport which is I think closer to the part of the Pyrenees that maalie likes to indulge in...

  8. Oh Paris! Maybe I'll get there in the Spring. We could have a big bloggers reunion; all who want can meet up on the corner of Rue Blainville near the Sourbon at midnight at the Spring solstice. All who go on Simon's, Maalie's and Lorenzo's blog sign up please!

We are off to Turkey tomorrow for two weeks of sailing.

I've not seen Ratatouilllleeeee. Is it about Rats? And what is that rat shop about?

  11. Paris. There's a train that leaves Vienna in the evening. I always wondered how it would feel to be actually on it, and wake up in the city of light!

  13. Paris is simply a beautiful place... I could live there providing I had a landcruiser to get into the country with (or a porsche or something!)

You don't need much to have much there

    :o)

  14. Hmmm merisi. I took a night train from Hendaye and woke up in the morning in Paris. I felt like I had spent the night on a train... ouch!
Don't think I can afford Paris for a while.... but I have an 'airpoints' possibility to Oz or the Pacific burning a hole in my thoughts at present!
