Sacred Kingfisher

Today, having just reversed out of my driveway I spotted a Sacred Kingfisher. This is the first time in 9 years I have seen one in the mountains. A very beautiful little bird, and related to the kookaburra, its about 1/2 the size.

  6. Fabulous!!
    Is that your... [just joking]

Today I saw a 'something' bird.. something I have no idea what.. I tried to take a photo but it took flight just as i clicked... earlier it was busy having territorial fights with the Indian Minor birds in the Jacaranda tree

Too bad the 'something' bird didn't win.. but only through sheer numbers

Have a great week .. Julie

  7. shadow- so thats the reason? I have heard it said before as well.

Julie- the indian minor has been declaired a pest and they can kill even kooaburras! There is an eradication programme starting in the Blacktown region
